About this scholarship

A scholarship that waives the tuition fee for master's students from outside the EU and the EEA at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Only a very small share of applicants win.

Funding type

Covers: tuition fees only. Some winners also get the NL Scholarship of EUR 5,000 for the first year. There are 20 to 25 of those a year. Does not cover: any living or study costs. In a two year programme it continues into the second year only if you pass 100% of the first year credits.

University admission details

Required before applying?

Apply for admission to the master's first through Studielink, ideally before 1 December 2026. After conditional or unconditional admission, submit the VUFP-NLS form in the VU applicant dashboard. It opens on 1 November 2026 and the deadline is 1 February 2027 at 23:59 Central European time. You can send it only once, and old versions of the form are not accepted. Results come in mid-March 2027, and you accept by the end of March. The scholarship cannot be postponed.

Application steps

Apply for an English-taught master's at VU through Studielink, ideally before 1 December 2026. Get conditional or unconditional admission. Submit the VUFP-NLS form in the applicant dashboard before 1 February 2027. If you win, accept the scholarship before the end of March 2027.
