About this scholarship
A monthly stipend of MOP 20,000 for full-time PhD students at the University of Macau, for up to 4 years, starting with the first semester of 2027/2028. You apply for it together with your PhD application.
Funding type
Covers: a monthly stipend of MOP 20,000 for up to 4 years (48 months), renewed each year according to performance. The university takes the tuition fees out of the stipend each month before paying it, so the awardee does not pay tuition separately during the scholarship. The awardee has duties of 5 to 15 hours a week, in ancillary teaching, administrative service or research. The awardee may not hold paid work or another scholarship. The page does not mention travel, insurance or accommodation. A second award uses a similar application: the PhD Teaching Research Assistant (UMTRA). Type A has a monthly stipend starting at MOP 12,500, rising to at most MOP 14,000. Type B has a stipend equal to the monthly average of the programme tuition.

The scholarship application period for 2027/2028 runs from 3 August 2026 to 8 January 2027. The time of day is not stated. For first-semester admission, the first batch runs to 23 October 2026 and the second batch from 24 October 2026 to 30 April 2027. The third batch, for the second semester, is not covered by the scholarship. The application fee is MOP 200. The programme may ask for an interview.

Register in the online application system, complete the admission application and apply for the scholarship in it. Upload the documents and enter your referees' details.
