Language requirements and exemptions

Language test required TOEFL iBT IELTS Waiver possible

A TOEFL iBT or IELTS score is required. Graduates of English-medium institutions in Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, the UK or the US are exempt. If your degree elsewhere was taught entirely in English, a letter from your university may get you a waiver. The school sets no minimum score for the MPP and MPA, but successful applicants usually have TOEFL iBT 100 (5.0 for tests from 21 January 2026) or IELTS Academic 7.0. The MIA FAQ gives TOEFL iBT 100 and IELTS 7.0 as the minimum for the MIA. Scores are valid for two years.
