About this scholarship

A bachelor's programme at Kyoto University for international students, starting with a six-month preparatory course in October 2027. All Kyoto iUP students can receive fee waivers and a monthly allowance during the preparatory course, and 40 places are offered.

Funding type

Covers: the full admission fee, a tuition fee waiver for four and a half years, and a monthly allowance of up to JPY 120,000 during the six-month preparatory course. The tuition waiver in the preparatory course is full. In the undergraduate course it can be the full fee of JPY 535,800 a year or only part of it, and the FAQ says the scholarships depend on academic performance. After the preparatory course, companies and organisations give monthly allowances on merit to eligible students. You apply for these during the preparatory course. Each student gets a room in a Kyoto University International House for the first 12 months. The guidelines do not say the room is free.
