University admission details

Required later?

The programme allows applicants to choose from a range of eligible master’s programmes offered by 19 higher education institutions in Ireland. Applicants must select programmes that are relevant to their academic qualifications and previous experience and must meet the specific admission requirements of the chosen university and programme. Receiving the scholarship does not automatically guarantee admission to a university, as applications are subject to academic assessment by the relevant higher education institution in accordance with its own admission requirements. Do not apply to any institution in Ireland until you are invited to. After the interviews, the Irish Council for International Students (ICOS) contacts shortlisted candidates in March 2027, and each candidate is invited to apply to two of their chosen programmes, with priority given where possible to their top two choices. Application fees are paid by the Department of Foreign Affairs and are not reimbursed if you apply before being invited. A candidate who receives more than one offer must accept the programme ranked highest in their application, and a candidate who receives no offer from either application will not continue in the programme.

Required documents

Applicants are required to prepare the documents needed for the application. These generally include academic documents such as the bachelor’s degree certificate and academic transcripts, proof of identity, nationality and residence, a passport, a curriculum vitae (CV), English language proficiency certificates, letters of recommendation, as well as any additional forms or documents specified in the application guidelines for the 2027–2028 cycle. All documents must be submitted in the required format and within the specified deadline.

Application steps

The application process begins with confirming eligibility, reviewing the list of eligible programmes and fields of study, and selecting suitable programmes. Applicants must then prepare the required documents and proof of English language proficiency before completing the scholarship application online and submitting all required documents by the deadline. Applications will subsequently undergo an assessment and selection process, and shortlisted applicants may be invited for an interview. Successful applicants will then proceed with the university admission, visa, and travel arrangements, subject to receiving the required academic admission and completing the relevant scholarship procedures.
