About this scholarship

A scholarship at the University of Hong Kong for undergraduates with strong results who work for gender equality in their community. It pays up to the full tuition fee each year and adds a travel allowance. IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with at least 6.0 in Writing and Speaking in the same sitting, or TOEFL iBT taken from 21 January 2026 at 5.0 overall with at least 5.0 in Writing and Speaking, or 95 with 25 in Writing and Speaking for older tests. The test must be within 2 years before 1 September. IELTS Online and TOEFL Home Edition are not accepted. SAT 610 in Reading and Writing, some IB and GCE results, or a year of English-medium university study also count.

University admission details

Admission included in application?

Submit one application through the international admissions route, indicate your interest in the HeForShe scholarship, and upload the essay in the HeForShe - Supplementary Essay section. Applications opened on 23 September 2026. Applications received by noon Hong Kong time on 25 November 2026 enter the first-round evaluation, and results and documents should be in by 1 December 2026. The scholarship deadline is 31 January 2027, and the time is not stated. After that you can still show interest, but it is considered only if awards remain. Admission applications close at noon on 25 August 2027. First-round results come from December 2026, and interviews may take place from November to January. The application fee is HKD 780. Applicants in financial difficulty can ask for a fee waiver through their school counsellor, who writes to [email protected]. All applicants are also considered for entrance scholarships without a separate form.
