Bourse d'exemption UdeM for International Students at Université de Montréal

Not specified Partially funded?

About this scholarship

A tuition reduction that Université de Montréal gives automatically to admitted international students, except French and French-speaking Belgian students. It covers bachelor's, master's and doctoral programmes, and at doctoral level it brings fees down to the Quebec rate.

Funding type

Covers: an amount of the extra fees charged to international students, taken off your bill each term. The 2026-2027 amounts in Canadian dollars are: Bachelor's: CAD 14,436 a year at level A, or CAD 6,879.60 a year at level B, depending on your academic record. If your file does not reach level A or B, no exemption is given. Master's: CAD 15,916.05 a year for research master's and CAD 11,334.60 a year for other master's, based on 45 credits a year. Doctorate: CAD 24,067.80 a year, a full exemption from the extra fees, so you pay the same tuition as Quebec students. Does not cover: living costs. The amount is lower if you take fewer credits.

University admission details

Admission included in application?

There is no scholarship application. Your file is assessed when you apply for admission, and the admission team emails you the proposed amount soon after a conditional or final offer. The admission page says this email comes soon after you accept your offer. For the autumn term, the usual deadline is 1 February for bachelor's applicants who studied outside Quebec or at a university, and 1 February for graduate programmes. Music bachelor's programmes close on 15 January, and first-cycle doctorates such as medicine on 1 November. The date on the programme page takes precedence, and the time of day is not stated. International applicants must apply by 1 April at the latest for the autumn term, even where a programme extends its deadline. The amounts shown are for 2026-2027, and the pages name no intake year. The admission page says the exemption is given to students admitted up to the winter 2028 term.
